I've been hanging around on the test realm a lot and I have something to remind everyone. PLEASE MIND YOUR MANNERS! You wouldn't walk up to a ten-year-old an start swearing at them in real life! Wizards are real living person with real feelings that can be hurt. It's just not okay to be mean. Play by the golden rule: "Do unto others, what you would have others do unto you." I know it can be hard sometimes, but if you can't be nice then really you should just keep your mouth shut.
I know this sounds a bit harsh, but I'm done. For goodness sakes, this is a KIDS GAME people! The rules are there for a reason, and if I see you breaking those rules I will report you, you bet your sweet life I will.
Another thing, false reporting is BAN-ABLE! Do NOT do it. That button is
not a toy, and if you play with it you will get in trouble. (I have now been reported, falsely, three times in one day. I was literally standing there when I got reported.)
If you are confused as to what is reportable, here are the rules straight off of the support section. Please review them. Even if you have looked at them before you might pick up something new, I know I did.
I have received a message that I have been reported. What does that mean?
If you have received a message that you have been reported, a character in game has accused you of using inappropriate language. If a report is found valid by our support team an account can be muted, suspended, or even permanently banned from game. If you are found to be in violation of the Terms of use through use of inappropriate language, an email will be sent to you notifying you (and your parents) about the report.
These reports are taken very seriously and are reviewed to insure their authenticity. If you feel you have been falsely accused please contact Support from the Contact Us tab on the tab located above.
What happens when I get Reported?
When you report someone, or you are reported, a message is sent directly to Mr Lincoln that includes the chat logs of everything that was said before and after that report.
Mr Lincoln then reads the log and assess the situation. He determines how bad the offense was, looks up prior offenses for the reported individual, and based on that assessment he issues sanctions such as muting or banning and sends an email to the offending account explaining the violation and the sanctions.
If the report was falsely made, that is determined as well, and the player who made the false report is investigated as to whether or not they have made previous false reports. False reports are just a egregious as valid ones, and similar sanctions can be levied against repeat offenders of false reporting.
Everything that a player enters into the chat window is logged. These larger chat logs are also routinely checked for those infractions that are not reported.
What is concidered reportable?
We appreciate that our players want to make Wizard City the best it can be, and we've placed the tools in your hand to report players for inappropriate behavior. We ask that you use the reporting feature to identify truly egregious behavior, such as creative profanity (swearing around the filters), solicitation of usernames/passwords, predatory threats, racist comments and other such actions as outlined in the Terms of Use. The old story of “the kid that cried wolf” has a lot of bearing in this situation and we trust that all reports received by players are valid and require support intervention.
What is NOT considered a Reportable Offense?
Because false reporting can be construed and/or used as harassment of other players, we’d like to take a moment to ensure you are aware of what does NOT fall under the category of a reportable offense:
“S/he falsely reported me” or reporting someone for false reporting (2 wrongs don’t make a right)
“Won’t leave my house” (pick your friends wisely and avail yourself of the non-porting option)
“Being rude” (We’re sorry, we can’t enforce good manners. Use the ignore button liberally &/or change realms. It’s wholly up to you to choose to stay around someone that’s not nice to you.)
“Chain Stunning” (admittedly, it’s not much fun for the receiving team, but it’s not a violation of the game rules).
“Scamming” (KingsIsle will NEVER ask for treasure card(s) in exchange for a code. Trading “cards for codes” is done at the players’ own risk. Codes are either fully public or one time use)
“Spamming” (Although the Terms of Use mention spamming, it’s related to email/web posts. Yeah, it’s annoying in game and never of profound statement. Refer to “Being Rude”).
How can I report an exploit or in-game harassment?
Harassment includes all things that might be provocative, bothersome or offense to other players in game. The use of obscene, abusive, or otherwise objectionable language is strictly prohibited in Wizard101.
Players found harassing others in game are subject to sanctioning up to and including permanent suspension from Wizard101.
Inappropriate Language
We would like to remind you of the Terms of Use Agreement you acknowledged when registering for Wizard101, namely the section which states (in part) (a) Specifically you agree not to do any of the following: (1) upload to or transmit on the Site any defamatory, indecent, obscene, harassing, violent or otherwise objectionable material. . .
Please be mindful of all communications you create while in-game, on the website or via the support tools. Failure to do so, can result in further action, up to and including banning.
I know this was kinda ranty and angry, but I just got reported three times for nothing, and i had to listen to a bunch of idiots swear or make a gross comment and then say, "WHO REPORTED ME!" I don't think kids (or teens or adults for that matter,) should
have to exposed to that. I'm not saying be perfectly full of sweetness and decency 24-7, but just don't do anything you wouldn't do in real life to a ten-year-old, that's all I'm asking. If you want to swear, go write it in your diary (I know I do some days.)!
This is not the place for it.
Thank you for listening to this rant. I promise not to do it again... for a while. ;)
Policewoman,
Heather
P.S. Here's a new one, reported a girl for swearing, then she insisted she was saying "a sheet of paper". *Rolls eyes* People are so pathetic.
