Friends

(no not the TV show...)

Today a friend of mine asked me if I was friends with Steve and Leesha. When I said I was, he replied "O: LUCKY!" I just kinda shrugged. I mean, I like Steve and Leesha, and I love their show. But we never play together. So that got me thinking...
What is a friend?

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a friend thus:
Main Entry:  friend
Pronunciation: \ˈfrend\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English frend, from Old English frēond; akin to Old High German friunt friend, Old English frēon to love, frēo free
Date: before 12th century
1 a : one attached to another by affection or esteem b : acquaintance
2 a : one that is not hostile
3: a favored companion
— be friends with : to have a friendship or friendly relationship with

Hmmm, well that really doesn't apply to this day and age. "Friend" is let me add you on facebook so I have a collection of people that I'm mildly interested in at my finger tips.
Of course that's not always true, I know some real gems on wizard101. People who I would be honored to know in real life.
I know, I know, you're all saying "So where are you going with this Heather?"

I guess my point is, that adding people as "friends" doesn't really matter. You have to BE a friend. Can we all try to BE more and add less? I think we would all be happier that way.
I am not going to "Add" any more people. Lists don't matter to me, what I'm really interested in is people and people I care about, and who care about me.

My two cents.

Wizard101 Flash Mob: Rehearsal #1

Well... I didn't work the way I planned. It never does. But it did work! It was touch and go though.

Kevin was the first, and he started messaging people, inviting them to come. And sure enough, they trickled in. (Why does it surprise me that the word of Kevin is more influential than a blog post and several tweets? I don't know why. But it does.)

I gave everyone numbers: one or "too". Then started teaching them the choreography, adding in secret signals that indicated the next dance move. At first there was a bit of confusion, but everyone caught on really quickly! Benjamin Fairydust of The Spirit Keep filmed some of the rehearsal. [[I will insert a link to the video here when he gets it up.]]

Our next rehearsal will be Sunday at 6pm Central!!! If you were there today, please try to make it! If you know you won't be able to leave a comment anywhere on this blog.

I just want to say again, that all of you were awesome, you picked it up so fast and were so cool with all the interruptions. You rock so much. Thank you!

The form will be going away (since it wasn't really useful). But I will be making a little section of this blog devoted to Wizard101 Flash Mobs. Look for a button on the side within the next few days!
Thank you all again!

One Hits: a Tweak

Bosses. They have a lot of health. It can be hard to kill them sometimes.
And if you want to farm one with a lot of heath it's darn near impossible!
Take the Jade Oni for example. He drops some nice loot, but he has 7,500 health.
But you can kill him in under ten minutes. It's true! The very lovely Sierra Starsong introduced me to this strategy a while back, and when ever I farm the Jade Oni this is the way I do it.
Here's a link to Sierra's guide (look at her's first then come back and learn the tweaks!), which was a launch pad for a bunch of tweaks and experimentation.
(Helping me demonstrate today is my Life friend Jared.)
I didn't mess too much with the life deck. Why fix it if it ain't broke?
Life Deck
I did fuss I bit with the balance deck. Since Victoria was wearing her Malistaire coat, she didn't need another attack card in her deck. I substituted Locust Swarm with Satyr so she can heal up Jared for the next round of farming. Then I just added wearing a pet to the equation. Since Jared doesn't have his Malistare coat yet, he wasn't as powerful as he could be, which ended up in a lot near misses. So I put on my Hero Pig which gives me a Dragonblade card. It made all the difference in the world! Any pet that gives you an extra blade will work, you could use treasure cards but they're pricey and I don't recommend them. If you do have your Malistaire coat, you probably don't need the extra blade, unless you like really big numbers.

Balance Deck
This strategy will work for practically any boss and any school. Here's an example: for fire use Elemental Blade, Elemental Trap, Fire Blade, Fire Trap, Fire Prism and Helephant.
The only thing that you have to remember is to let the person with the prism into the battle first.

Other than that, it's pretty simple. It sure is a whole lot faster than a bunch of people randomly doing spells.
Here's our highest hit today:
Muahahaha. And you thought Life was weak...

Fun Money

Well its about that time of year when me and my family would take a vacation. This year, we are not. :( But I am going to take the "fun money" that I save every year for our trip and buy a gift card with it. :) I looked at the gift card page, but I cannot decide which one to get! I love them all! GAH! You can help me decide which one to get. You can find all of the cards and info on the pets here on the Wizard101 website: https://www.wizard101.com/game/giftcards

Yay!

Turn That Frown Upside-Down

So this morning I tumbled out of bed, and walked down to the computer saying to myself, "Better hurry an get in some Wayfinders time before you have to go to orientation."
I log on I'm already at the bazaar, my robe is black, the selling price is 17,000 I hit sell, nothing.
"Whaaaa...?"
I continue to hit sell until I notice the button is greyed out. I run my cursor over the robe. The words "No Auction" glare back at me.
"Not cool KI!"
What I nice way to start my morning.
So I drag my wings over to the Ravens.
We are on a first name basis now.
I finally muster 43,320 gold to hatch with ever patient Dustin.
We run to the Hatchery.

We both click ready.
"It'll be just my luck this morning to get another Orthrus."
We both race to the dye shop.
I click on preview.
I scream in delight,
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Dustin got another Mythzilla. We'll have to try again. :)
Now I wait 21 hours. Woo?
I guess I spend that time in the Ravens...
Oh boy it never ends! At least I have a new pet to soften the blow.

Public Relations

I few days ago, I sent Kevin an email with a list of suggestions for Petnome. He liked them so much that he appointed me head of Public Relations/Community Liaison. Woo! So my first order of business is to find out what you Wizards want and like. I created a little survey. It would help so much if you could take a few minutes and fill it out. All answers are anonymous.

Like I said this is going to help me get a feel for what you like and want. So if you ever have any questions about Petnome, you can email me at wanderingconjurer@yahoo.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you!

Flash Mob!

This morning my friend emailed me this video.

I love flash mobs, they are so joyful.

Then I was thinking, why can’t we do that in Wizard101? Obviously we can’t do a lot of dance moves, but we can synchronize them and make them look super cool! I think it can be done, and I will do it. If you would like to join, please fill this out.
to view this form in a diffrent webpage. It's a little squished here. The Form has been deleted.

There are a few mandatory rehearsals so if you can’t make those dates come and watch us! This is a work in progress so we’ll just go with the flow. :)

Also I need a camera man/woman. Someone who can be at the event, and possibly at rehearsals too. Send me an email.

I am planning on starting with something very simple, so don't worry about being perfect. :) I encourage you all to come, we will be dancing in the Wizard City Commons and rehearsing at my house.

More information will come closer to the preformance date.

WOOT! Everybody dance! :D

An Important Reminder

I've been hanging around on the test realm a lot and I have something to remind everyone. PLEASE MIND YOUR MANNERS! You wouldn't walk up to a ten-year-old an start swearing at them in real life! Wizards are real living person with real feelings that can be hurt. It's just not okay to be mean. Play by the golden rule: "Do unto others, what you would have others do unto you." I know it can be hard sometimes, but if you can't be nice then really you should just keep your mouth shut.

I know this sounds a bit harsh, but I'm done. For goodness sakes, this is a KIDS GAME people! The rules are there for a reason, and if I see you breaking those rules I will report you, you bet your sweet life I will.

Another thing, false reporting is BAN-ABLE! Do NOT do it. That button is not a toy, and if you play with it you will get in trouble. (I have now been reported, falsely, three times in one day. I was literally standing there when I got reported.)

If you are confused as to what is reportable, here are the rules straight off of the support section. Please review them. Even if you have looked at them before you might pick up something new, I know I did.

I have received a message that I have been reported. What does that mean?
If you have received a message that you have been reported, a character in game has accused you of using inappropriate language. If a report is found valid by our support team an account can be muted, suspended, or even permanently banned from game. If you are found to be in violation of the Terms of use through use of inappropriate language, an email will be sent to you notifying you (and your parents) about the report.

These reports are taken very seriously and are reviewed to insure their authenticity. If you feel you have been falsely accused please contact Support from the Contact Us tab on the tab located above.

What happens when I get Reported?
When you report someone, or you are reported, a message is sent directly to Mr Lincoln that includes the chat logs of everything that was said before and after that report.

Mr Lincoln then reads the log and assess the situation. He determines how bad the offense was, looks up prior offenses for the reported individual, and based on that assessment he issues sanctions such as muting or banning and sends an email to the offending account explaining the violation and the sanctions.

If the report was falsely made, that is determined as well, and the player who made the false report is investigated as to whether or not they have made previous false reports. False reports are just a egregious as valid ones, and similar sanctions can be levied against repeat offenders of false reporting.

Everything that a player enters into the chat window is logged. These larger chat logs are also routinely checked for those infractions that are not reported.
What is concidered reportable?

We appreciate that our players want to make Wizard City the best it can be, and we've placed the tools in your hand to report players for inappropriate behavior. We ask that you use the reporting feature to identify truly egregious behavior, such as creative profanity (swearing around the filters), solicitation of usernames/passwords, predatory threats, racist comments and other such actions as outlined in the Terms of Use. The old story of “the kid that cried wolf” has a lot of bearing in this situation and we trust that all reports received by players are valid and require support intervention.

What is NOT considered a Reportable Offense?

Because false reporting can be construed and/or used as harassment of other players, we’d like to take a moment to ensure you are aware of what does NOT fall under the category of a reportable offense:

“S/he falsely reported me” or reporting someone for false reporting (2 wrongs don’t make a right)

“Won’t leave my house” (pick your friends wisely and avail yourself of the non-porting option)

“Being rude” (We’re sorry, we can’t enforce good manners. Use the ignore button liberally &/or change realms. It’s wholly up to you to choose to stay around someone that’s not nice to you.)

“Chain Stunning” (admittedly, it’s not much fun for the receiving team, but it’s not a violation of the game rules).

“Scamming” (KingsIsle will NEVER ask for treasure card(s) in exchange for a code. Trading “cards for codes” is done at the players’ own risk. Codes are either fully public or one time use)

“Spamming” (Although the Terms of Use mention spamming, it’s related to email/web posts. Yeah, it’s annoying in game and never of profound statement. Refer to “Being Rude”).

How can I report an exploit or in-game harassment?

Harassment includes all things that might be provocative, bothersome or offense to other players in game. The use of obscene, abusive, or otherwise objectionable language is strictly prohibited in Wizard101.
Players found harassing others in game are subject to sanctioning up to and including permanent suspension from Wizard101.

Inappropriate Language

We would like to remind you of the Terms of Use Agreement you acknowledged when registering for Wizard101, namely the section which states (in part) (a) Specifically you agree not to do any of the following: (1) upload to or transmit on the Site any defamatory, indecent, obscene, harassing, violent or otherwise objectionable material. . .

Please be mindful of all communications you create while in-game, on the website or via the support tools. Failure to do so, can result in further action, up to and including banning.

I know this was kinda ranty and angry, but I just got reported three times for nothing, and i had to listen to a bunch of idiots swear or make a gross comment and then say, "WHO REPORTED ME!" I don't think kids (or teens or adults for that matter,) should have to exposed to that. I'm not saying be perfectly full of sweetness and decency 24-7, but just don't do anything you wouldn't do in real life to a ten-year-old, that's all I'm asking. If you want to swear, go write it in your diary (I know I do some days.)! This is not the place for it.

Thank you for listening to this rant. I promise not to do it again... for a while. ;)

Policewoman,
Heather

P.S. Here's a new one, reported a girl for swearing, then she insisted she was saying "a sheet of paper". *Rolls eyes* People are so pathetic.

Check it out! 2

I took the suggestion of Malorn, and went over to Picnik. I love that place! Check out these creations.

Don't know why you say 'Goodbye', I say 'Hello'...

Today Lenora summed up the courage and defeated the emperor's retreat. Then she was on a roll so she proceeded to finish the rest of Krokotopia. (Sometimes things fall into place! I was luck enough to have that happen today.)
So we bid Krokotopia adieu, and venture into the treacherous lands of Marleybone.
As well as having a brand new color coordinated outfit, she also learned "Poison" and "Beguile" today!
I can't wait to kick some kitty butt! Hi-ya!

Kestrel's new look

A couple days ago I took a stab at the Plague Oni and Kestrel's lovely storm robe dropped!
I quickly hurried to the Seamstress and now this is Kestrel's new look.
I want to dye it Light purple and green, but I don't have enough gold right now.
I love that Victoria, Kestrel and Heather are matching now. :) I even have the death robe for Lenora when she hits level 40.
Speaking of Lenora, I gotta keep working on her! She is dying to get out of her mis-matched Krok outfit into her sleek new Marleybone uniform.
